Audrey Hepburn Galaxy Commercial
Dearly departed Audrey Hepburn is the latest celebrity to be resurrected by the ad industry so she can star in a new commercial.
In the spot for Galaxy (a British chocolate brand), Hepburn is sightseeing in Italy when her tour bus gets delayed. Luckily she stops across from a handsome stranger as her version of "Moon River" begins to play. What happens from there is classic Hepburn, but how did the ad come to be?
Hepburn's sons, who control her estate, authorized the use of her image for a fee. Sean Ferrer and Luca Dotti say their mother would be "proud" of her new role, adding in a press release that she "often spoke about her love of chocolate and how it lifted her spirit."
Hepburn is not the first (nor will she be the last) dead celebrity who Madison Avenue has brought back to life thanks to advanced technology used in order to hawk a product. Chris Farley shilled for DirecTV, Fred Astaire danced for Dirt Devil, John Lennon rocked out for Rock Band, Gene Kelly grooved forVolkswagen, John Wayne sipped on Coors Light and Kurt Cobain wore his Doc Martens in heaven.

A Car Exploding, in Slow Motion (SFX Project) - (c)NFTS 2013
An example of the 'work' we do on the SFX/VFX MA course at the National Film and Television School, this burnt-out wreckage was the climax of our first-year pyrotechnics course. We used a total of 15 litres of petrol, vaporised and ignited by a few lengths of detonation cord to engulf the unfortunate Saab 9-5 in glorious, beautiful flames. The slow-motion footage reveals the complexity of the fireball and the sheer force of the explosion smashing, burning and ripping parts of the car clean off the chassis. Flanking the car are two additional explosions, as if to simulate a cluster bomb enveloping the immediate vicinity. The footage was filmed on a Phantom FLEX camera at 2570 frames per second, although the majority of the explosion is sped up in this video, as the entire explosion lasts over six minutes when played at original speed!
*NOTE* This pyrotechnic effect was the finale of four weeks of intense tuition carried out under the watchful eye of leading industry SFX Supervisor Richard Conway. Richard supervised the day, the authorities were notified and the mass of H&S paperwork justified an amazing experience! Clearly this should not be attempted at home outside such a controlled and safe environment!

more CBS idents
CBS rebrands based on a lot of other things you have seen, including the clown from the phillips commercial "Carousel" by Adam Berg, and perhaps the Honda "Cog" commercial that was denied an award by it's borrowing of ideas from "the way things go"
these are still cool and well done though.
