Oil'd from Chris Harmon

Oil'd from Chris Harmon on Vimeo.

A year ago, a massive oil spill began in the Gulf. The entire country was glued to the news until the well was capped, and then we forgot about it.

As the year anniversary was fast approaching I became curious, just how much oil was that exactly? Where would it have gone? What I found was shocking.

So in an effort to further our discussion on oil dependency I created this short animation. I've spent all of my free time in the last month putting this together to help illustrate just how dependent we truly are on oil.

Moviebox is a show from Megapix channel dedicated to movie news, which delivers interviews with stars and behind the scenes curiosities. For its new identity, playing with the handmade crafts graphic feel, we have simulated a small studio scenario where tiny narratives develop around good old movies clichés, representing a variety of film genres. The box always takes central place in the scenes, and besides being the channel’s symbol, works as a starting point for the construction of the Moviebox logo as well as the structure for the graphics inside the show. The final outcome is a strong identity that engages the audience in an amusing, playful way.

O2: The Making Of 'Niggles & Narks' - The Mill Visual Effects Studio

O2: The Making Of 'Niggles & Narks' - The Mill Visual Effects Studio from The Mill Visual Effects Studio on Vimeo.

This is a unique behind-the-scenes look at how ‘Niggles and Narks’ - the new campaign for O2’s broadband service created by The Mill and VCCP - came to life.

The multi-platform campaign features animated characters based around the idea that a broadband service would talk about broadband and its customers, rather than the technology, its speed, the price and downloads. Directed by The Mill’s McBess and Simon Landrein, they created the animated world of the Niggles and Narks, who starred in their own television commercial, featured on a national poster campaign, on in-store packaging, plasma sequences, unique collectables and promotional material with merchandising and shop front displays. Alex Webster, Executive Producer, The Mill VFX Studio explains: ”The unveiling of the O2 campaign is a significant moment for the content direction team at The Mill as it sees our original design and animation work across a whole host of media platforms.”

Immersive Cocoon "2011" from adNAU

Immersive Cocoon "2011" from adNAU on Vimeo.

This spec teaser short film reveals an evolution in computing interaction, within a setting inspired by the penultimate scene from Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Starring a renowned actor of stage & screen; live action was filmed multi-camera, against greenscreen atop a backlit plexi floor on a shoestring budget. The actor was then integrated into an entirely digitally created CG set rendered at 1080HD.

The Immersive Cocoon is a future concept study by Tino Schaedler with design collective NAU; an idea to push the envelope and provoke a new conception of interface technology.

Best played fullscreen & LOUD! For those with 24" or higher monitors, this teaser short may also be viewed in 1080HD at http://www.vimeo.com/21463365.

Directed & 3D CG by Oliver Zeller. More info, behind the scenes & full credits at www.i-cocoon.com.
