Finlandia "The Evolution of Perfection"

Finlandia "The Evolution of Perfection" from UNDO on Vimeo.

Undo teamed up with a Finnish production house Komia to create this spot for Finlandia. The film is directed by Juuso Syrjä.

Fluid simulation was used to create the impossible shots where the vodka would rise up and form the shape of the bottle. A fairly complex setup was made in Realflow to direct the fluid growing, and a lot of growing collision geometries were used to move the digital fluid to match the shape of the bottle.

The Schwarzenegger Trilogy

The Schwarzenegger Trilogy from Brainbow on Vimeo.

The Animations: '5 4 3 2...', 'Galleria' and 'come on... get down' which is a Gangsta rap feat Arnold Alois Schwarzenegger.

The 3 short animations all hand-drawn 1600 frames cell animation with Highlighters used for color, it was hell to make but we love the final videos!

The first video '5 4 3 2...' is a series of continuous hollywood explosions edited into a simple beat.

The second 'Galleria' is a cut from Terminator 2 which is one of my favorite scenes from any movie.

The third 'come on... get down' is a original gangsta rap with lyrics provided by Arnold himself and music created by Harry McGowan

The short films premiered at the Standard Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles as part of Cine-Shorts which is a bi-monthly series that aims to provide a platform for local directors + aspiring filmakers making their mark in the city of los angeles.

The London International Animation Festival wanted a trailer to celebrate their upcoming animation festival and their new home, the Barbican. Die Überfischung der Meere

Die Überfischung der Meere from uhs on Vimeo.

Bachelor's thesis of my studies at the Burg Giebichenstein – University of Art and Design Halle.

The condition of the sea is frightening. Since the beginning of industrial fishing in the 60's, the fishing resources decreased by 90%. Scientists are warning against a complete exctinction of all fish species in less than 50 years.
But most of the people know nothing about that. To change this, I used my Bachelor semester to spread the facts and statistics of industrial fishing and generate attention for this topic, by creating this visual essay.

A History Of The Title Sequence

A History Of The Title Sequence from jurjen versteeg on Vimeo.

Graduation project 2011
Designed as a possible title sequence for a fictitious documentary, this film shows a history of the title sequence in a nutshell. The sequence includes all the names of title designers who had a revolutionary impact on the history and evolution of the title sequence. The names of the title designers all refer to specific characteristics of the revolutionary titles that they designed.
This film refers to elements such as the cut and shifted characters of Saul Bass' Psycho title, the colored circles of Maurice Binder's design for Dr. No and the contemporary designs of Kyle Cooper and Danny Yount.

This title sequence refers to the following designers and their titles:
Georges Méliès - Un Voyage Dans La Lune, Saul Bass - Psycho, Maurice Binder - Dr. No, Stephen Frankfurt - To Kill A Mockingbird, Pablo Ferro - Dr. Strangelove, Richard Greenberg - Alien, Kyle Cooper - Seven, Danny Yount - Kiss Kiss Bang Bang / Sherlock Holmes

decades

Decades from Artifact Design on Vimeo.

This piece was originally conceived as a part of CG set for a commercial spot about hamburgers throughout recent American history. However, the potential also existed for the set to be the stage for a visual exploration in lighting, composition, and cinematography. So the assets were repurposed to try and achieve that goal.

The lighting was originally intended to evoke a sense of an old game show stage after hours, think Price Is Right Showcase after the lights have gone down. Although it did evolve, it should still capture that low-lighting feeling.

Color correction was performed in After Effects to try and achieve the look of an old photograph. The popular "Instagram" presets were a big inspiration.

Mental Ray was the primary renderer and Adobe products were used for texturing, compositing, and editing.
