"The Lark"

The Lark from Small & Creepy Films on Vimeo.

Gil Kenan was born in London in 1976. He moved to Tel Aviv when he was 3 and to Reseda in the L.A. suburbs when he was 8. In 2002, he graduated from the UCLA Animation Program. His senior thesis, THE LARK, is the very project we are showcasing here.
THE LARK nabbed Gil an agent and the admiration of Robert Zemeckis and Steven Spielberg for whom he directed MONSTER HOUSE, the second all-motion-capture feature after Zemeckiss own POLAR EXPRESS. MONSTER HOUSE was nominated for a 2006 Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.
Caroline worked with Gil on his first live-action feature, an adaptation of Jeanne DuPrau's novel, CITY OF EMBER. It was released in 2008.
Ten minutes long, in black-and-white, THE LARK was meticulously crafted, using a variety of animation techniques.
